2025 Idaho elk w/ pack goats and horse's
We had drove to this particular trailhead the evening before and stayed in the horse trailer. Got up not to early on the next morning and had coffee and breakfast. As you can see from the previous post the sun was already up. We had a camp spot picked out 5ish miles up the trail. Let's just say...- Duck-Slayer

I start light (10lbs) at 18 months, 30 months (15lbs), 40 months (20lbs), 48 months no restrictions. Give you time to figure out goats/packing/gear. They’re growth plate in their spine doesn’t close until four years old. Matt- Duck-Slayer

A average 225lb bull elk and a 65 lb camp, 1 trip, 6 goats, I pack nothing except bow/binos. If you want to carry camp then 4 goats is what I recommend. When I first started I packed with 3 and that seemed sufficient but it’s hard on the goats carrying that much weight, Matt- Duck-Slayer

Well my entire place is not goat proof, I did 1 strand of hot wire around pasture, I have about a 1/4 acre they live in that has hog wire around it with there goat houses w a gate I open and close morning and night for the pasture. Simple and affordable, Matt- Duck-Slayer

Depends what you’re looking for, the Saanen and boer crosses seem to be thicker, but they get just as tall as the pure Alpine. I can pretty much point out when they are born which ones are gonna be thicker and which ones will be on the thinner side like a Alpine. Matt- Duck-Slayer

Between Mar 1st and May 1st, I always encourage my customers to pick them up before their 12 weeks old that way they can bottle feed them, and those babies will be imprinted on you. Matt- Duck-Slayer
