I fought ice along the creek I was trapping more than I thought I would this weekend. Had the time yesterday so I pulled the footholds and DP’s. Left a few 220’s high and dry. I had a plan to run for a couple weeks and try for 15 raccoons. I got one, ha!
Finally on the board for the weekend. I decided to set some traps for this long weekend so I got 15 out Friday afternoon. The weather has been unseasonably warm lately and I wish I had traps last weekend already. The weather is cooling again now that I have traps out and I’m struggling with ice...
Seriously one of our favorite meals right now. My wife, toddler, baby, and I ate all of it except the breasts. We turned those into the best chicken salad sandwiches that I’ve ever had tonight. We do this exact same meal-leftover scheme at least monthly.
Just curious, what didn’t you like about about them? I don’t use conibears enough to discern much difference between the couple different brands I’ve tried.
Forgot the details. Ran home at lunch today to get it out of the brine, seasoned and on the pellet grill. Brined for 30 hours from frozen, smoked 3.5 hours. Turned heat up to 300° for almost two more hours. Falling apart by supper time. Happy family!
I got on a Richard Mann kick for awhile and the more I read of him the more I didn’t care for him. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but it was some weird elitism in everything he wrote. The .30-06 opinion is the weirdest one too. I get it, if that is his connection with it but it seems that he...
That’s a good list! thanks for including Gary Clancy! I remember reading a few of his books from the library in middle school. His columns in MN Outdoor News were always worth reading too.
I bought a used take-off Savage .223 barrel that someone pulled off with the big barrel nut still jammed on. The nut had three different cuts in it to try and get it off and was still jammed when I got it. I made some blocks to clamp the barrel in a vise and applied heat and then a pipe wrench...
I’m getting through a few more traps that were previously tagged in my home state. Getting my WY tags on them. Got 15 done after work and before day care pickup today. Instead of going through the whole pile, I’m just going to keep adding tags as I use traps. I pulled out some #11 long springs...
I am gearing up to run a few more traps for a couple weeks. I had three of my 220 trails sets out, I never reset the set that caught the skunk. Checked those three today, and two were tripped. Not sure if deer walked over them or what happened. My confidence went from high to low with this set...
