Missed a buck at 50 yards my first year, didn’t see any my second (got a bear tho!), and this year went up above Crystal lake for 3 days so far. Season is far from over but would love any advice you may have! I have read just about every post of yours on most forums as I love this hunting thing more and more each year!

I’ve only hunted the rifle closure portion of D-11 with a bow and arrow. If you aren’t hunting it with a bow, I can’t be too much help.

I didn’t know there was an archery only area in D11 and just looked it up and glad I did. I was driving back from Crystal lake after my hunt and was looking at that spot up above the reservoir and thinking it looked good to go hunt.

Bummer you can’t rifle there! I escorted it a little and I’m guessing you hunted the area around bear creek?

Nope. The foothills above Azusa, Glendora, and San dimas.

I live up in the Whittier hills and that area looks just like there. Tons of bucks in the Whittier hills but can’t even bow hunt unless it’s in your literal backyard.
