Tom,
I agree with you on a bigger gun/bullet weight. But velocity is also a key factor. You have to find that happy middle ground. I shoot a 270 and load a 130gr. nosler ballistic tip. We killed 2 hogs a few months ago that went 500+. I hit each one behind the shoulder and they both went...
If you ever make it into the central San Joaquine area let me know and if the pigs are around I will take you out and you can shoot a couple. With all the rain we have had they are scattered but a few weeks of dry weather and it will be easy pickings again.
I have killed hogs with a 22mag. It was a 20 yard shot and I head shot it but it did drop in its tracks. I am lucky to have 26k acres of hog land to hunt here in CA. I can pick my shots and pass on the ones that are not good. If I was paying to hunt pigs I would use a min. of a 243 with 100 gr...
I traded a few pig hunts to a guy in Roseberg Or. for a elk hunt. He said we will be hunting 25 or so miles out of Roseberg. He will have a spike camp set up and all we need is our food, bows (archery only) and personal supplies.
I have only hunted the north eastern area of Oregon, out in the...
Ya, I hear ya. I have family in Baker Or. and there are always mules and horses for sale in that area. They are a lot cheeper there than they are here. Good luck!
I am fond of Polaris but I have never had a cat. Rode some cat snow machines but I know nothing about their quads. In our area there are about 20-1 polaris owners compared to cats. I torture our bikes on the ranch and the polaris has held up.
I think polaris and cats are made almost alike...
She is priced at $2000. you can see some pics of her at :http://www.mtnviewhorses.com/gretchen.html
If you wanted her we could work out some sort of delevery. I am meeting a guy in Winnamucca NV. in a few weeks who is buying a yearling mule from me. There is room in the trailer if you want her...
I would go with a mule. I would ride a mule and pack on our horses when we were in rough country. I have one good pack/riding mule for sale. She is 9. You can shoot a small calaber gun off her back.

I have two polarises, one yamaha, and 4 hondas on the ranch. From now on everything will be polaris. For a long day they are the easiest on your back and kidneys. They perform well and they are a durable bike. Currently I have a 500 and a 700. For hunting I use the 500 and it has more than...
