.40 vs. .45 for bears

Grinding our own for 1st time-suggestions?

I remove what's easy to get to and forget the rest. I use about 10% beef suet for elk And use pork and bacon ends with deer.

Which Bino would you suggest

I know they are more than $400 so I'm not following the rules of your post. But for not too much more the Cabelas Euro glass is pretty good stuff. It is in an entirely different class. I have Swarovski now but if I had to replace on a budget I would go with the Euro.

What did you learn elk hunting this year?

I have shot an elk with my rifle nearly every year for over 20 years. I loved the experience of each and every one so I'm not complaining But.... I want to shoot one with my bow. I was packing out my bull last year and all I could think of was bow season. I went out during bow season this year...

New Bozeman Pack Maker

I got one this year and used it for antelope, deer, and elk. I really like the pack. It has a couple of great features for me. It has a load shelf built in kind of like MR but it is very light. I also like the hip belt. It's set up so you can put normal belt loop type things on it. Doesn't...

Custom rifle questions

Why not pick up a good used 270 with the action you want. Put a quality scope on it and see how it shoots. If and when you want you can start upgrades as needed or as you have $$$. I recommend Lilja rifle barrels when it's time for that upgrade.
