Our 2019 Whitetails

Favorite Backpacking Meals
We do one dehydrated meal/day/person. My wife makes them. Taco soup, chili, turkey or meat & veggies, goulash, egg scramble, etc. If we happen to be camping near water, we'll take a few breakfasts that are dehydrated fruit, oatmeal, granola, powdered milk, and berry flavored meal replacement...- MT_BWHTR

Which broadhead for turkeys?
Check out the NAP Spitfire XXX's. 3 blades and 2" diameter. I have shot several birds with these over the last couple of years and haven't had one go more than 15yds.- MT_BWHTR

I would second most of what is already said. The deer hunting is ok at best if you draw a tag. I do some single day elk hunts locally but with very little luck. If we have 2 days or more, we drive 3-4 hours to better spots with less pressure. The beer is good, just a few local restaurants...- MT_BWHTR

TPLO Surgery for my Lab
Thanks everyone for the info. It'll be a chore keeping a Lab off her feet.... especially one with the "go" of a 2 year old. Visited with the Vet again today and they are not concerned about the wait, but will put me on a call list if other appointments cancel.- MT_BWHTR

MT FWP Tentative Season setting meetings
This will be an interesting meeting coming up in Helena it would seem. Only being eligible to hunt the last two years, and focusing on elk more than anything, I won't have much input. MT Proposed 4 day youth deer hunt
I'd like to see the extended opportunity for youth, and sacrifice days out of our General season. I would also like to see a youth Turkey weekend the week before the spring opener as well....
