MT - Changes in Hunting Regs/Units/Seasons coming this month
Most of the advisory council folks have been very responsive when I have contacted them. Complete opposite of commissioners or legislators. I have been told that the councils will play a larger role in season setting now and in the future. Can’t hurt to try it either….just flood anyone...- Hammerhead

Pine Grove is a wonderful place to take kids. Very family friendly. Call the R1 FWP office and ask to talk with one of the folks in fisheries, and tell them you are looking for a place to fish with your kids. Kids rifle conundrum....
My daughter did her first hunt at 12 with my Ruger 77 UL in 243, then for her 13th birthday we got her the same rifle (Ruger 77 UL) but in a 270. She is deadly with it on deer, antelope, elk, and even a bighorn. it's a great size for her, plus fairly lightweight. She is about 5' 6" and 130#...- Hammerhead

Feeling discouraged.
I probably would have started this topic after opening weekend if someone else hadn't done it first. Family member with a breaks bull tag, and we put LOTS of miles on the boots the weekend, and lots of time behind the binos, and saw one cow in three days. Opening Day Anxiety, just me?
Counting down one week until i head to the breaks to set up camp for my college daughter and her bull tag. Hope we can even get into our camp, it’s been awfully wet out there. We saw the same dead animal on the interstate on Saturday as we moved our daughter back from MSU. Best time to buy map chip?
I know OnX is a sponsor here, and I recall seeing promotions in the past, so I am wondering when the best time would be to buy a GPS map chip for the 2017 season in the state of Montana. Planning to keep it for multiple years.- Hammerhead

First time paddlefish fishing.
Nice fish and a great photo. Looks you were fishing the north side, is the shuttle service running? Sounds like it will be a quick season with 200+ taken today. I am hoping to take my kids over memorial weekend for C&R, if it stays open that long!- Hammerhead
