Across the pond in the South Pacific

NZ is a great place for us to stretch our legs in, its nice to have real mountains to play with. Killing a Wap is gonna take some doing though, we plan on have another real go next year. This trip has changed they way we backpack forever, getting the packs down to 22kg for 14days took some...

Across the pond in the South Pacific

Thanks for the comments guys. Moosie, Fiordland is similar to traditional Chamois/Tahr country though in my opinion not as thick nor as high, but she makes up for it in steepness. Fortunately it is vast and as remote as you will find in the region. Luckily it is classed as a fly-free zone so...

Across the pond in the South Pacific

Thought I would share with you all some pics from the year so far. So far so good, with mixed results. My brother Tony and I packed into New Zealand's Fiordland in an attempt to kill a Wapiti with the bow. As far as I am aware there has not been one taken with archery tackle thus far. Well...

My brother Tony and I recently got amongst the South Coast Rusa for the first time. Helped out by a few good mates (locals) we were able to take home some antler just before they cast. Looking forward to next years rut. ds My young 14" stag. Tony's 26" stag. Merry Xmas all.

    My 2007 Dall Sheep Hunt

Yeah, got to agree that is a great report with a classic outcome. Well done. Regarding the 'bare chested' photo, are there no nasties (insects) in them parts. Try that in our hills and the sand flies alone will leave you looking like some freak show character. Awesome pics BTW.

    Chamois

I hear what your saying, it sucks badly. Nothing worse while labouring under a heavy pack to see a chopper fly in to your chosen area, if only for the fact they did not stop to give you a ride in:). Though its worse still if they return shortly after with beasts hanging from their flying...
