Low end optics
Valid point, but maybe a good lesson for said child. Let them learn the lesson early on that buy cheap -> get cheap. I'd much rather have my kids learn at the lower end of the gear spectrum so that they better appreciate the quality stuff. Much like a junker first car, which to me is a right... -
what camera to buy
The options are nearly endless without knowing your exact needs, but I'd suggest sticking with Canon, Nikon, or Sony. You'll also want as many manual controls as you can get. Another item to add to your camera bag that really ups your photo game is a reflector, which are cheap and lightweight... -
Where for Whitetail?
Archery season runs from beginning of Sep thru January in KY, which allows for many opportunities. Low priced non-res tags and plenty of public land opportunities. I hunt mostly private, but public ground is what got me thru college. I arrowed one of my biggest bucks on public ground. -

avian x turkey
I have the breeder, but plan to get the feeding before next spring. IMO a high-headed turkey is one on alert. Not the message I'm trying to send to wary gobblers. I've had good luck with the breeder though. You can't go wrong with the Avian-X, super good looking decoys.- BIDZ

I'd check out places in Western KY. Low non-res prices, close to home, and plenty of opportunities for you there. I've hunted quota draw on Ballard WMA there and i've never seen so many birds in one place. Specks, Canadas, Snows, and most every duck imaginable. Plenty of public land and many...- BIDZ
