Caribou Gear

Your most ignored rule

Best friend was the same way. He was ejected out the passenger window in a rollover on the way to my 21st birthday. Guy in front of them lost a bunch of limbs off his trailer. He was tore up beyond recognition, died 3 weeks later in a medical coma from respirator-acquired pneumonia, as his parents watched. The driver walked away with just a bruise, thanks to the seatbelt. It was an accident that became a tragedy, but didn’t have to.

@Dave N - something to consider.

Had a cousin may age that was killed in car wreck when we were both in our 20's. Beautiful woman who was also ejected and died from a broken neck without a scratch otherwise. It was after her funeral that I began wearing a seat belt religiously.

Let someone know where you are going. Ain’t none of their damn business.

Many of those who hunt alone might disagree, but your point is well taken. I've been known to use the old phrase "Going to see a man about a dog". "Going to tune a piano" is another I've heard people use.

Having the wife help with backing any truck-trailer into a spot. Usually ends in a fight. :) Usually after she says something like, "go that way" (w/ no hand gestures) :unsure:.

Now, after 33 years of marriage, when we arrive ... she jumps out, does her own thing ... and I back the trailer in all on my own. It results in use not starting our camping adventure pissed at one another.
I can't tell you how much I can relate to your post. My wife grew up on a farm and I have exhausted my full mental capacity trying to explain and show her how to give me viable hand signs - I have even resorted to drawing maps to no avail, cell phones, etc. Nothing worked --Until I bought a truck with camera's. Now the adventures aren't tarnished when I need to back up.

I am confident we are both scarred from the years of pain and suffering through this - One of the last tactics before I bought my truck was to tell her to get out of the truck, get me a beer ready and stay the hell out of the way until I am done- ha ha.
