Your most ignored rule

I Don’t wear sunscreen. Terrible for ya but love the feel of a burn. it’s one of the things I’m going to try to be better at on the back 40.

I’ve always worn seatbelts, but a few years back, I watched someone unbelted get thrown from their vehicle and die, I drug a tarp over their body so passer-bys wouldn’t have to see it, gave the Montana highway patrol a report of what I saw, got to the VFD and got a fire truck and went back up to the scene for 4 hours to do traffic control until at the end it was time to pull a hose and spray the evidence off of the interstate of what I had witnessed and faced earlier in the day.

Definitely enhanced my zealotry towards seatbelt use. Don’t really give a hoot what someone does on private property, but on public roads souls other than the departed will be cleaning up the mess.

Leash law. I hardly ever put my dog on a leash. I have one neighbor who gets all bent out of shape about it, and my dog is far more under control off leash than hers is on. She calls the HOA and the sheriff on a regular basis. Ring cameras are your friend.

I forget the gloves too often these days.
Good scar collection @ 70. I wear my hair longer proudly,it hides the scars & lumps.
Dotti broke my Gibbs Rules mug and now she thinks rules don't apply.
She is learning the off rule the hard way now.

I need a clarification.
Are these rules self imposed, made specifically for you by others, rules you set down for others or just general rules of life that most people accept?

Rather than backing into parking spaces which seems to be the latest fad, I look for a pull-thru spot farther from the store or business. It makes it just as easy and safe to pull out and I get more exercise. And I park as far away as necessary to find a pull thru spot, often next to a cart return cage which I feel helps protect my truck more. I just shake my head when I see someone waiting for someone else to pull out from a front row spot when a pull thru is available just a short distance away. Evidently, people really believe they're getting extra points by parking in those front row spots.
I do the same as you. I need the exercise, and I don't need someone to hit my car when they open their door. The circling looking for a close parking spot gets me, especially at the gym.

I had no idea there was people who made chili without beans…
The rule I most often forget to follow is remembering the wife is always right. I don’t blatantly ignore it but cannot seem to grasp it as expected.

Putting the toilet seat down after I am finished. I swear the toilet seat magically goes back up at some point during the day or night.

I leave my diesel running at pumps. Especially when its cold.
Psh, when it's winter, I don't shut my gasser off at the pumps, unless one of the costco gas nazis is on patrol. (They're actually pretty nice. They always give the dogs treats and will help you pick an 18 gallon fuel tank to put back in your truck.)
