Yellowtail WHMA Pheasant

OP: I live in the BHB and know Yellowtail very well. It's cool for older gents and kids that want to shoot a few pen raised birds. Everyone knows the truck's schedule and there are usually vehicles lined up at the unit entrance (can't hunt till 11am on weekdays) waiting for the birds to show up. When the truck arrives, the hunters follow the release truck as he drops birds throughout the unit. Guys will peel off and hunt the released birds, many of which are standing on roads and in the middle of parking areas. It's pretty sad and not productive for a young bird dog, especially pointing dogs.

Let me know if you have any further questions about hunting in the BHB. There are some tremendous hunting opportunities for pheasant, chukars, huns, blues, and sage grouse if you're an upland guy.
