WY Unit 38

I appreciate the hunt write-ups. I just completed my first WY applications (type 1 and 6). I am targeting the bighorn units. Can you elaborate on the early snow and road conditions up high? Around 14? How common is that much snow by Oct 10-15? Was the snow only at a certain elevation? Just trying to game plan while I dream of a tag.
It can be good conditions or it can be pretty snowy. The year before last we had 24" of snow on the rifle opener where we hunted, at about 8000-8500'.
This past season, not near as much.
Just watch the forecasts and be prepared. Forecasting at elevation in the mountains is a crap shoot though.
Was bowhunting early season the season before last in a t-shirt and by the time we got four hours into the hike (going up in elevation) we hit significant white out conditions and cold, blowing snow.
