WY proposed regulation change Disabled Veterans!

Abusing systems is as American as apple pie. Fraud, abuse and corruption are all bad everywhere they are found but this is small potatoes when you think about what all of us are losing everyday. It's hard for me to get too spun up about this when our politicians are being bought by companies and foreign governments to do things that are terrible for the American people. Sorry for the digression but there are bigger things to get pissed off about.

Ohhh I’m sure there are plenty of us pissed off about that also lol and the state that the good ol USA has been put in, it all needs cleaned up !!

@Addicting please don’t make me use “sniveling bitch” in a disabled vet thread.
You want to know the best part.

@appaloosa

Watching that video the guy talks about his plates and pins from his injury.

I’m willing to bet a retirement check that this will change absolutely nothing for him. He will just go to the VA and have the Docs fill out an application claiming the bolded part of the proposed reg. I don’t have the full range of my shoulder because of the hardware in me. I have to use goats to pack everything for me. I can no longer pack my own stuff.

(i) Has a Central Visual Acuity Disability, is quadriplegic, upper extremity disabled, paraplegic, permanently paralyzed over at least fifty (50%) percent of their body or otherwise physically disabled so as to be permanently confined to a wheelchair (or similar device); or,

100% agree. Judging a combat veteran by his appearance or the way he moves is lame.

Judging anybody by their appearance or how they move is lame. I judge people by their behavior.
You think combat veterans are the only ones with plates in their backs, rods in their shoulders? Hell, everyone in America is dealing with some form of mental health, its a damn crisis. We should all be out hunting, climbing around the hills, killing big bulls, its the best form of therapy there is. Why does this asshat need to be out there five days before the season opens? Cause he fought in a war? What about first responders, law enforcement, other public servants? None of them ever walk away with long-term health issues, right?
If you can walk up a hill with a dead bull on your back, you can hunt during the regular season. Spare me the "judging a combat veteran by his appearance" BS.

I’ll judge then. I fit the criteria and don’t think it’s ethical for someone who is still able to hike into the back country to use the current system. There are several states that offer special tags and programs but I’d feel like a douche if I did. And if someone is utilizing the system they sure as shit are not doing any favors by publicizing how they are abusing a system designed for people who lost legs to an IED.

Wyoming 100% DAV don't have free property taxes like (Ne), 50% reduction (Co), Free college education for spouse and children (Wi), 100% free education at the university of Montana... Its a way to for one of the state agencies to give back to those that are struggling (with one thing or another) that served for our country. Keep in mind 100% DAV doesn't mean you are fully disabled or cannot work. I don't see you addressing the tax dollars spent there? Only when it effects where you might hunt once every 5 years?
The program needs reform for sure, but don't knock a state for giving benefits if you aren't going to attack all of the benefits for 100% DAV. It is purely a staye benefit and this guy is utilizing it. I don't necessarily agree with him, but it's his right to do it, for now.

Are Wyoming's regulations here drafted for "Persons with Disabilities" or Veterans? As I quoted from the G&F site above, any veteran that qualifies (just like anybody else with a disability as Wyoming defines it) can still receive the allowance. Am I reading that wrong?

My only interaction in the field with a diabled vet while hunting in Wyoming was during an archery hunt in 2016 in a premium antelope area, unit 57. I was parked on a numbered BLM road glassing. A guy pulled up and told me those antelope were on private property, the landowner only allowed veterans to hunt, and his season opened 5 days early. I didn't say much other than I was just looking at antelope. He then told me I was on a private road and should leave. I'm not going to lie - I hope that guy's done with his well needed Wyoming theraputic healing accomodation.
