This plan doesn't really fit with the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation where all citizens should have equal access to hunt and fish.

Neither does the existing R/NR structure, and that is ok.

For sure, agreed. It’s dead because several of the pillars have been abandoned long ago.

NAM is like a Werther’s Original at this point. A nice memory of days gone by.

Anybody on here talking about G+F being a business needs to remember, our government does not have a good history of running a business.
Also, our government should never be a business. Businesses make money, government works for the people.
If this is what the non-profit G+F department needs to run efficiently so be it. If you feel like you do not want to be a part of it, dont buy in.

I wonder if anyone on the commission has ever considered allowing for the purchase of multiple points per year.

Perhaps that would be the easiest way to achieve maximum revenue without having to change the overall structure of the draw system?

Thats my line of thought as well. For R's, I think the NAM tenets on equity/access to game are mostly being upheld...but that's far from the case for NRs, so let's rip the bandaid off. Highest bidder gets the NR tags...lot more money will come in...and not just from hunters.

Is there a downside to this plan from a WY resident perspective that I am missing? They would absolutely print, and it wouldn’t impact resident draw at all. Blue-collar hunters would still have the random draw, which would still be better odds than many other states.

This would make 90/10 a lot easier to achieve for DEA as well, now that I think about it.

I would like them to prove it. Lets see the projects and wage increases with ACTUAL math instead of just treating a public resource like a commodity and milking the non-residents for more money. Should be simple to explain since they knew that they "need to be ready" to cover those expenses.

They approve the department's budget every year during a public commission meeting. You can attend, or watch online and ask them to show you every expense down to the exact dollar.

The Wyoming legislature approved this increase in 2018. What took the WG&F commission so long to bump it up?

I don't play their point game but still hunt Wyo elk every year. At my age hunting is more important than antlers.

Wyoming is maximizing their financial opportunity for allowing NR tags on behalf of residents of Wyoming- this is indeed “good business.” I’m exploring thoughts that would make it even better business.
