Lots of Sage Chickens.

Some Antelope

Some Deer

Some Elk

Nothing in huge numbers there other than Sage Chickens.

Free HMA permit to the area.

Just can't have an ATV in your possession while accessing the area.

I do not think it is the mine. The mine is close to the town of Kemmerer.

There are probably a lot of factors that contribute to mercury levels in fish.

I think the inability to have a constant water level , erosion, run off, natural geology, etc.

The Bear River runs through a lot of farm land before it makes it to Woodruff Narrows.


There is a lot of mercury in the gold mines of Nevada, but not as much in the shale of south western Wyoming.

I wouldn't worry about the mercury/fish issue...unless you're 20 years old, pregnant and eating those fish 20 days a month.

I was just guessing that it had to be a mine with the security measures at the gate. But, no telling with all the "top secret" stuff going on around these parts.

Read you load & clear mercury. Regrettable, I've got 4 kids under four.... More 4 Me!! Doesn't matter, we tear up the trout elsewhere; and wind up with just enough to feed everybody the night of the trip.
