How about some tips or experiences trimming weight off wood stocked rifles?

(Interest on my part comes from I'm looking hard at a Henry Long Ranger. They're kinda chunky and heavier than the Browning BLR by at least half a pound. Don't want the BLR because lever mounted trigger and Browning has no warranty. )

Yeah, carefully remove material from inside the buttstock, behind the recoil pad. Fill up the void with a foam or something.

I'd try and find a newer made long ranger if you could. They had accuracy issues in the first couple years of production. Nowadays they're great. When I had one it was not.

That's good to know as I've had an auto search looking for one in .260 for a long while. I know they made some early on. Current options are 6.5CMor .308.

The Henry's are pretty close weight wise to the standard BLR. The lightweight BLR has a smaller barrel contour which is where most of your savings will come from.

Just an FYI, Henry really likes using injection molded parts in their guns. Take it or leave it.
