You can support Trump's bombing of Iran, favor a more aggressive defense policy, and believe in old school military standards, but any sane person should conclude that Pete Hegseth is not the right person to lead the Pentagon. He is not a competent or serious person. He would get on all fours and bark like a doggie if Trump asked him to.

Just compare Jim Mattis to Pete Hegseth and realize how much higher the bar should be.

It is NEVER his fault. He will look for someone else to blame.

There is another thing in play, if his party agrees to go along (no guarantee of that anymore); if he uses Hegseth as a scapegoat...he can name a successor and possibly get them confirmed before the new congress starts.

Thomas Massie is a republican. Reporting says there are enough votes to do it. Republicans are turning fast now...Jumping off the sinking ship, looking for a scapegoat ( which isn't entirely wrong, Hegseth has been historically bad and the war had some impact on election results).

Massie started the impeachment process months ago by introducing articles of impeachment...which led Republican house majority leader Mike Johnson to abruptly adjourn their session rather than be forced to deal with it before the election. Everyones house rep has done no work since September as a result.
