When Elk Aren't Available There Is Always Grouse

It has been nothing but rain for several days and the elk aren't real vocal. The grouse are everywhere and getting your limit takes no time at all. There are so many Ruffed grouse they need thinned out. I wish there were more Blues, but I will always take a bunch of grouse home...

Had a ruffed strut in the road in front of me this morning - tail and ruff all fanned out, but the Forest Service doesn't allow guns in their vehicles. My .410 sits in the corner with a cold barrel. Bummed.
