I made country fried venison with gravy tonight for the first time. I sliced up a roast and was pleasantly surprised. Next time I will use some backstrap. My wife even liked it, and she doesn't care for country fried steak. Sorry, no pics.

Got invited next door last night, had venison steak simmered in a thick gravy, rice, collard greens and field peas & butterbeans mixed as well as cornbread. Washed it down with a decent merlot. Love my Southern cooking neighbor.
