Is it fitting because of WW1 or is there another connection between the two that I'm missing?Just started Storm of steel by Ernst Jünger! Figured it was fitting considering I just finished re-reading the LOTR.
I'm only a few chapters in, but it's good so far. I read Gulag Archipelago a few years back. This story, and some of the stories in that book, are very similar.Own this and been meaning to read it for a while but haven’t yet. Would love to hear your report

My local library has a copy of it. Maybe I'll check it out and read it.If you’re into whitetail hunting this is from an earlier time and pretty good take on it.

Originally published in 1948, and it’s a pretty interesting read especially from his perspective back then.My local library has a copy of it. Maybe I'll check it out and read it.
I finished it a few weeks back. It's definitely worth reading. The first part about interrogation and imprisonment in Siberia matched other stories and books I've read. It still blows my mind. The second part about their escape shows you just what the human body is capable of. It's not written to make the story teller look like a hero, but it's just a great testament to their determination.Own this and been meaning to read it for a while but haven’t yet.
