I have always received a Famers Almanac for Christmas. Just got to thinking of all the podcast out there today debating when the best time to hunt (heat, time of the year, or weather) whatever species your after does anyone use the Farmers Almanac's weather as any sort of help or insight on planning hunts?

I have never consulted one. I look at the historical trends and the ten day forecast. Its a little bit down my list as far as factors in hunting. It's more about being reactive to what will be there when I am. The only hunt I have actively planned around weather possibilities is my snowcock in NV next year.

I honestly have always read it, but have never gone back and compared what happened vs. what was predicted. Just wish I would have kept records to say its accurate or not..

Never looked at the farmers almanac to plan a hunt. If given the choice I would almost always go early in the archery season before hunting pressure and the rut to get the animals on a predictable pattern. It has worked for me with whitetail and elk.

I usually don't consider the weather probabilities very far in advance. On this years hunt I went opening week because it was opening week. The other members of our group waited until the last week of a 3 week season hoping for cold weather. I had rain they had bright sunshine. I saw multiple bucks they struggled to find any. I don't like hoping for good or bad weather I just make plans and hunt.

The only time weather factors in for me is the short-term forecast. This year I had 1.5 weeks off work to get in a Colorado deer hunt. I knew I wouldn't likely need the full season length, so rather than leave home ASAP I took advantage of good weather here at home, then got to CO just after the opening weekend masses had subsided. Had the weather been crappy at home and looked great in Colorado, I would have been there prior to opener.
