Been out about 7 or 8 times so far this year. To me, setting mallards and honkers are 3rd only to big Muleys and bugling bulls. Just so much damn fun. Bird hunting is great, because even if you get skunked, your back on the couch watching football by lunch. Here are 2 great public land days.

Many scouting miles and days getting skunked behind the scenes, of course. As the Boise area grows and approaches “big city” status, good spots are getting further and further away. Friend’s farms are getting sold and turned into neighborhoods. Losing private land spots is sad, knowing that habitat is gone forever. It’s taken us 10 years to find a spot on public this good. Hopefully everyone got out to chase some birds over the holidays.

Nice man! hopefully whoever shot those hens had to buy breakfast. That’s how we roll anyway.. lol..

I need to get one of those pointy key things, for finishing them off.

It's crazy how competitive waterfowl is. As I get older, I can see the appeal of upland more and more.

I fear chukar hunting may become/is becoming hip, but there’s a lot of country to dilute the crowd and it’s a little self limiting.
