Missed a beautiful drake yesterday up here is frosty WA, I was surprised to still see one. He was hangin with a group of greenheads.

Ha. An hour drive west and we have those too.

If I head north a bit by Rockport, TX the guadalupe river delta, theres a bigger mix. But in the open bay, its almost always redheads. This was back in December.

Shot my first redhead in Montana this year. Also got my first Canvasback. They are a cool looking bird.

Went out Monday with my son and got my limit of redheads (a pair), he tried at a few birds (redheads, bufflehead) I got to land for him. But the one he shot and knocked down flew away. Not much else was flying other than redheads on open water here, sometimes scaup but didn’t see any.

Went up to the Aransas River in the rain and it was slow. Friend and I got a scaup drake each, I got a scaup hen and he got a redhead drake. Had pintails buzzing by occasional but not worth skyblasting.
