Good afternoon/morning/evening folks,

I am looking buying a Vortex HP Diamondback scope for a new rifle in 270. Ive chosen the 3x12x42 (unless someone thinks 4x16x42 is better choice) however am not sure which reticle to choose.

I would like your opinions/expertise/information.

The two choices are

V-plex Reticle (MOA) which is the basic crosshairs

Or

Dead Hold BDC which is crosshairs plus Bullet Drop Compensation.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Montejello

I have the Viper HS 4x16x44 and the BDC. Love it and have found it to be accurate. First shot in earnest was a prongy doe at 390.

I've got several Vortex scopes and have been happy with all of them. I've got older eyes (okay poor eyes even more than old) and would personally choose the higher magnification, but that's a personal choice and may depend on where you hunt, distances and just how much zoom you have used on scopes in the past. I'd go with the BDC reticle, you can choose to ignore the hash marks and just use it as a standard duplex reticle, but you have the choice also of using the BDC. If you do use the BDC reticle make sure you validate what ranges the hash marks really equate to on max zoom and with your rifle and load.

Thanks for the quick replies! I ended up getting the BDC. Much appreciated!
