What would be a recommended vinatge remington 22? The nylon 66 has zero appeal to me so it needs to be something else. 541's are beyond the price I would like to pay. Looking at under $500 and able to mount a scope.

I have a Remington 572 pump action 22 that my aunt gave me after my uncle passed away. I think it is from the late 60s to early 70s. I plan on getting a squirrel or two with it this fall. I was going to go out with it Sunday but it was just too darn hot.

A 581 wouldn’t be a bad choice.

BTW - I still want a Nylon 66 (probably an Apache). I will never forget the photo in the old Remington catalogs of Tom Frye sitting with one on top of a pile of thousands of wood blocks he had shot as aerial targets.

Wish shoots like this were still popular today. Seems like if you can't hit that wood at 1000yds, you ain't worth sour bacon.

Jerry Miculek always kept it interesting as far as modern shooters go for me.

A Remington 34 is my favorite 22. still looking for one to replace mine I lost in a house fire. Loved that rifle
