Valle Vidal fall bear

I drew the Valle Vidal (NM) fall bear tag. Has anyone hunted bear there?

I have lots of intel on elk and fish, and some incidental bear sightings, but have not talked to anyone who has hunted bear there.

I'm not using dogs. Any insights to offer?

No bear insite but ive backpacked there and its beautiful good luck to you!

Don't know about the exact area you are looking for but I hunt just south of there in 45 and talked to the bear biologist for the area a couple week ago. He said:
"At that time of year the bears should be concentrating on acorns, pinyon nuts, and any available fruit (choke cherries, wild plum, apples if available, etc.)." I'll be following the thread but if you hear any more information, please PM me, Im planning on purchasing a OTC license this year as well.

How did it go? I just drew this tag this year and it is my first bear hunt. Really looking forward to seeing the new area!
