Some of my buddies missed the draw in Montana again this year and we are looking at other options.
One of the guys is pushing Utah CWMU hunts for deer and elk.
Anyone tried this before?
Is it a poor man's opportunity or a rich man's playground?
Do you call the sponsor and then pay a fee? or draw?
We are just trying to ferret out some other options.
Feel free to IM if you desire.
Thanks for the help...

IMO, the latter is the better descriptor. One of the best ranches in the state charges $2800 for non-guided pronghorns and over 5X that amount for elk. Sure, there's a few that are 'reasonable', but those have by far the lesser quality of critter. I know of one that asks ~$3500 for bull elk, but the owner did state to me that they get mostly 5 and smaller 6pts on the top end. If I was considering a CWMU hunt I'd be more inclined towards something like moose. I know of one that was asking $5500 a couple of years ago.
