Well I'm back early... more on why in one second.

The elk were not where they were the last four years in a row. Wolves must have killed them all or our luck just ran out ;). So we covered some new ground and glassed the specs of orange that seemed to be behind every rock or tree in the meadows waiting to take 300 yard running shots at terrified elk spooked by more orange running through the woods. It was blowing so bad it would knock me off balance while glassing the area so I didn't stand close to the cliffs...

Walking around we found a couple caves... one was only about 10' deep and had deer bones in it and smelled like really musky/skunky. Maybe it was a wolverine hangout?

Note the deer pelvis in the back of the cave...

I had seen the second cave before but never looked carefully inside. This time I shined a good light down it and could see it necked down. I initially didn't want to go in (Bears???) but went in a little and could see it opened up into a big chamber. And there was flowstone! This chamber was about 20' on a side and 10' tall. Someone flipp'n selfish ass had stole the stalactites, but the flow stone and stalagmites were cool.

There was some bear-sized scat covered in fungus that would fluoresce chartreuse when you shined a light on it. There was also a grass bed from some largish animal. Those pics didn't turn out but we fond a moth covered in water droplets.

But back to the early departure... when we got back to the camp we found the #%$^ wind had been so strong it busted one of the "popouts" of our pop-up trailed. It pulled the support right out of the wood. Since bad weather moving in, elk didn't seem to be around, and I didn't want to snuggle in the one good bed with my hunting partner/ newly formed caveman we decided to pack it up and head out. Maybe I'll pick up a deer tonight.

Well I picked up a fat whitetail doe last night so that completely makes up for ruining the trailer said no one ever

I also found a criniod fossil near the cave. I hope I can get the limestone off of it so you can really see the branches.
