What about the OG L? That should compensate for fat barrels.
It's twice the weight of an OG 6.5 which kills it for me.

This is really helpful. Thank you. You think a 20” 6.5 PRC would be a bit much for the OG Six-Five? That would be the primary gun it would be used on. I don’t currently own anything larger in caliber than 6.5mm.I have both the XC and the OG 6.5. Just got the OG though on 12/24 and have not shot it yet. For me, the OG is attractive in smaller cartridges and bigger volume cans are attractive for larger ones.
How I look at these two cans at least:
OG 6.5
- Impressive suppression for something that weighs 7.5 ounces (mine was only 7.2!) and only adds 4" overall length.
- Not a ton of volume so might not do as well with lots of powder, cant add end cap brake for additional recoil control.
- Ideal for 223, ARC, BR variants, up to creedmoor/308 sized cases that dont have a ton of gas or recoil
- On modest cases like ARC, BR, GT variants, you can get 2-3" extra barrel length to get some velocity back to keep closer to Creedmoor/308 type cases with less recoil/noise and still have same rifle form factor as it would have had with a shorter barrel and a 6-7" can.
- Mine will live on my primary hunting gun - an 18" 6 creedmoor. I've been kicking around the idea of putting a 6 dasher tube on it too and a 20" tube would be more live able with this can.
- Doesn't play nice with carbon barrels but carbon barrels are ghey anyway.
Nomad XC Ti
- Great all around balance of weight, length, suppression, and modularity and tends to be readily available at lots of brick and mortar store fronts so you dont need to pay another transfer fee
- 30 cal so is flexible for people who want to move one can across a bunch of different rifles.
- There are numerous end cap brake options for it to help it mitigate recoil even more. Mine currently has a RecoilX brake end cap and it stays on my NRL purposed 6.5 creedmoor. I intend to dust off my 7 saum soon and give it a run there as well where i think it'd be a good fit. Current brake end cap options i'm aware of - Dead Air e-brake, Salmon river solutions, and RecoilX. I'd go with one of the later two.
Other ones I'd consider (have not used these):
-Airlock Zero Gravity - I'd probably get the 7mm one just for a hair more volume and less back pressure for a 6.5 PRC. Supposedly unbelievable suppression for size/weight but heat up a bit faster than others. One piece like the OGs which i think is ideal for folks looking for the best weight/performance without needed modularity. No end cap brakes.
-Stealth Additive Works (SAW) Orev - this fits the Scythe/US Reaper type form factor (a C-hair shorter than nomad XC), they are coming out with a printed ti brake end cap. I believe SAW is the OEM for Airlock and i'm extrapolating some performance here on an educated hunch. Very little first hand reports out on these.
I also have a Gen 1 TBAC ultra 7 and a SiCo Scythe. The U7, Scythe, and XC are all close enough on suppression front that I dont think the differences are worth fussing about. XC is probably the best but i haven't done real apples to apples tests with them to pick the fly shit out of the chili. I do appreciate the shorter overall length cans compared to the u7.
Can you update us after you get to shoot the OG? I have a 22" 6 creedmoor and it might be the solution I'm looking for.I have both the XC and the OG 6.5. Current contenders:
US OG Six Five
Dead Air Ti XC
US Reaper w/ 6.5mm front cap
Airlock Zero Gravity 7mm
I appreciate all the help and insight, everybody.
Yep. I intend to get to the range sometime this week. Can you update us after you get to shoot the OG? I have a 22" 6 creedmoor and it might be the solution I'm looking for.
Ask Pat. mtmuley...following, trying to figure out what I wanna screw on the 7PRC Seekins.
If I wanted a suppressor, first call I'd make. mtmuley
