Caught a few more good ones. Any good recipes for these things? Always talked about keeping some just haven't done it yet. Underappreciated for sure, a lot of fun in current with a jig.

I fried some along with a few crappie (my favorite freshwater fish for eating) last week. Couldn't tell the difference.

So how many sunfish are there? Blue gill. Green/bream. We have pumpkin seed at the lake I grew up fishing.

Sunnies were a treat in between catching perch. They always were the size of your hand. Pike got in the lake and now they are a quarter that size.

Lots of different sunfish (or bream). Warmouth, redear, rock bass, even crappie are in the sunfish family. Here is a poster that lists them:
