Well we finely did it, after five years we got TURKEYS!!!! We got up at 2:00am, drove 150 miles, crossed a beaver infested creek (in the pitch dark), only got one foot wet. We then walked 1.2 miles and gained 300’ in altitude, set down in the damp grass (snow has just melted), and waited 55 minuets for sun up! The sun came up, we called twice and the turkeys called back WOW, we would call, they would call back and forth for what seamed like days. Finally we though, the plan would come together! Well it did, two nice toms came in running right past us and to our decoy, now for the first time we had turkeys right in front of us! What a shame about my decoy, we got two toms and a nice blowup decoy, OH well I’ll get a new decoy next year! WHAT A DAY.
Way to go, that happend to us last year except with a sad ending, we get to our spot, set up our dekes, birds are gobbling, we make two calls and we hear what sounds like jets fly in and see to jakes land out in the field, they come running and be both look out in front and theres another tom walking in, well the jakes run to him and there out about 50 yards and wont come closer so i take a shot and my gun wont fire, i try 3 more times still nothing so my cousin takes a shot with his modified choke and doesnt hit and they all fly away. It was text book and we screwed it up. He has a turkey choke this year and my gun is fixed.
Way to go on the birds 4570. Gotta to love it when a plan comes together. If you need any help posting the pics, just email them to me after you get them scanned. Or if you already have a place to store pics online, I can help you with directions on how to post them here. Looking forward to the pics. Congrats...
