Season summary.Opening day success in Montana. Then a South Dakota hunt gone awry with hot weather, unfathomable tics, tire blowout, lost favorite hunting knife.Mostly hunting not when I want to but when work and other obligations dictate. I try to avoid super bad weather and that period where the gobblers are henned up bad ,but this year had to go when i could. This last week-end is always fun mostly because the hens are starting to depart from the good gobblers and the action picks up.I did the radical late night drive Friday night for a Saturday desperation hunt.It was worth it with the birds ripping yesterday morning.I played cat and mouse with three gobblers and their last remaining hens for 2 1/2 hours before this one made a fatal mistake. The birds were on the go from daybreak and we covered some ground, but finally got in front of this gobbler and his last hen for a classic call-in with a twenty yard kill.

You are brutal on those poor turkeys. I wonder if you would take turkey hunting over archery elk?

Congrats on a great spring season.
