I'm going to Oregon for the weekend, and figured I might as well bring a shotgun in case I see some snowshoe hares. But then I got to thinking that I should head east and try for some jackrabbits too. I've never hunted them and I've always been curious. It's legal to hunt black-tailed jackrabbits in Oregon, but you can't hunt them in Washington, as they are a species of greatest conservation need. That brings me to my question: what is the legality of hunting jacks in OR and then transporting meat back to WA? Interstate transport of migratory game birds and Cervids is very clear, but I couldn't find anything on small game besides birds. If it was any other type of small game I wouldn't think twice about it, but since jacks aren't legal to hunt up here I'm curious if anyone knows the correct, legal way to do this (if there is one). I imagine it doesn't come up often (ever) because who else is goofy enough to go hunt jacks in another state?
