To all my homies on the westside

My in-laws live in Mt.Vernon.
Evacuated last night to SIL who lives on higher ground. Skagit hasn't crested yet, but its 4' higher than ever recorded. They are saying the river wont reach full flood until tomorrow morning.
Yeah. There's going to be some tragically iconic photos that come from this event.

Floods are not uncommon there, kind of an every year thing. When I worked up there we lived along the Skykomish river. The valley would flood every year, always seemed to happen when I was at work so I couldn’t get home instead of when I was at home and couldn’t get to work. These floods are another story all together. Record setting floods in Northwest Washington is saying something.

First row of homes in little ole Cashmere is starting to flood. We're at 37k cfs, and she's still gaining almost 1k cfs an hr, was supposed to crest last night about 10k cfs lower. All time high is 41k back in 1995.

City crew is trying to install an earthen berm along that "road" I think they're a day late and a million dollars short.

Mind boggling to me.

Flood stage for the river near me is like 5k.

All this river rising talk got me looking at flows. The Tieton is at perfect rafting level. I’ve never been able to hit the Lochsa in December but it’s almost at decent level where it’s not too bony. Lochsa in December would be cool. Definitely warmer than some Spring runs I’ve done

Damn just saw vids from Leavenworth this morning…no Baravarian Christmas this year 😳

Meanwhile to your south we’re not getting dink in central Oregon. Last year there was five feet at the entrance to Crater Lake right after hunting season (first week of Nov) this year it’s totally bare!

There’s an alert for water across HWY 2 between West and East Glacier which is the first I’ve ever heard in 20 years.
