TIP-MONT PROGRAM WILL BENEFIT FROM DONATIONS

Montana's popular TIP-MONT Program, which enlists outdoorsmen and women in reporting crimes they observe involving the state's fish, wildlife and State Parks resources, is getting a financial boost from supporters.

"Montanans are so passionate about their natural resources that in addition to hundreds of tips a year, we often hear from people who want to donate to TIP-MONT," said Jim Kropp, FWP Enforcement Division administrator. "Now we have a means of accepting these donation by directing them to the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Foundation."

The MFWP Foundation seeks to support important work benefiting Montana's fish, wildlife, parks and natural habitats. Already, $5,000 has been contributed to the foundation's TIP-MONT fund, providing a new source of funding, which could allow FWP to redirect hunters' and anglers' license dollars to other law enforcement operations and investigations.

Callers to the TIP-MONT line (1-800-847-6668) report crimes they observe in the outdoors and important details that only first-hand observers may be able to provide. Callers may remain anonymous, if they choose, and still qualify for cash rewards if their leads result in an arrest.

"A good tip often allows us to complete an investigation and stop a criminal who may be involved in a whole series of crimes involving the taking and waste of our fish and wildlife or cultural resources," Kropp said.

Individuals and organizations may mail their contributions to: Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Foundation, Attn: TIP-MONT, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701. The MFWP Foundation will earmark the contributions for the TIP-MONT Program and all contributions are tax deductible.

For more information on the MFWP Foundation visit its web site by going to the FWP home page at www.fwp.state.mt.us and clicking on the MFWP Foundation logo at the bottom of the homepage.
