The Good Ol’ Days

What an incredible day hunting turkeys today with my favorite hunting buddy!

Utah allows hunters to start hunting small game and birds as soon as they have completed hunters education - there is no age requirement. As such, I surprised my seven year old with a semi-auto 20 gauge and three turkey tags as a graduation present. We set out this morning, the birds cooperated perfectly and his aim was dead on!

The good ol’ days are right now!!

Congrats! I lived in Logan, Utah in the 1980s and no turkeys back then.
However I do regard that time as the "good old days"
Sept: Blue Grouse up high in big flocks eating mountain ash berries in steep avalanche chutes
Oct: Pheasant opener in both Utah and across the border in Idaho
Nov-Dec: Ducks! A 90 day season and 7 bird bag limit.
Jan-Feb. Geese, then huns in the wheat stubble, sometimes a camping trip for chukars along the Nevada border.
