Well gentlemen, on April 16, 2013 at 1237 an era ended. The era of me doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. An era of hunting elk for 17 days straight. An era of spending 2 months straight in the AK backcountry. An era of 115 + days fishing each year.

A new era has dawned though. The era of me being a father...

My first child, Margaret!

Congratulations on the new addition! And my condolences on the OLD era events...

Congratulations! I find all the time spent in the outdoors pre children certainly helps you get through the days when you have to play dad rather then punch it out into the bush somewhere on the hunt.

At some stage you can start introducing camping and fishing trips and it can be very rewarding that first fish or first marshmallow under the stars around a fire.

The first couple of years are pretty tough, but after that it gets easier.....

Congratulations on the start of a new era! In time you'll be able to transfer your outdoor knowledge to your children and do things together; it'll be challenging at times, but worth every minute when you see the smile on their face!
