The classic magnums - will they see a renaissance?

I like the variety of calibers available but more drawn to the classics
250 Savage to 35 Whelen
Recoil is as expected, proportionate to force delivered
Wildcats are my jam and may or may not be practical but elected for the 'cool' factor

Newer cartridge designs need to stand the test of time before I embrace them...
the 7mm Back Country is intriguing but I'm still skeptical ...

I feel like there has to be a word about ammo availability. My brother had me scouring western WA for one of the PRCs a few hunting seasons ago because he could not find any where he was at. I could not either. Just before the hunt one of his buddies loaded some up for him but he didn't have enough ammo or time to really dial in the new rifle. While looking for the PRC I saw a lot of 7mm RM and 300 WM. I've been on a few hunts where someone had to pick up a box of ammo in a nearby (and usually tiny) town or borrow a box from another hunter. 7mm RM, 300 WM, and to a lesser extent, 338 WM still seem to have a strong following.
I’m my neck of the woods if you find the PRCs on the shelf it’s going to be the precision hunter and that’s it. I’ve actually noticed the 6.5 creedmoor seems to be disappearing. Fewer and fewer ammunition offering available at the LGSs. I’m talking less than the 7mm08 or 300win. Which makes sense cuz I finally got around to picking up a 6.5.

Speaking of classic magnums, I will be heading out this morning with my .257 Wby. mag, this was Roy Weatherby's favorite, and mine also. I still have a 7mm Rem. mag., and had and sold a .264 Win. mag, and a .300 Wby. mag. All are/were very accurate, and have taken nice bucks. I never felt "under gunned", lol!

I don’t think we will see a renaissance of the belted rounds. What is the newest belted cartridge you have seen? Even Weatherby is getting away from belts (and radiused shoulders).

I am committed next year to back to the gun I shot my first elk and mulie with. Remington 700SPS 300Wm. Its what I will use next year with a good old Leupold VX11, no dials no dots. She's been in the safe for 35 years. time to go for a hike.
