Tenzing pack

I've only seen the ads in magazines. Did you get to try one out before you bought or are you seeing it for the first time when it comes?
Curious on your feedback when you get it.

Just got my 6000 pack the other day!!!! I was hoping to use it this fall but didn't draw an ell tag, so it won't pack out an elk this year but hopefully I can put some miles on it during deer season!!! It seems comfortable so far!! Can't wait to get it in the field though!!

I couldn't find one in Billings, so I ordered it from Cabelas because of their return policy and it won't cost me shipping. I have been looking for a pack for over 2 years, I am a little picky on what I want. and since I have owned my pack for over 20 years it is hard to find a replacement.

In that case, I nominate you to post a detailed, photo heavy test report on the Tenzing pack.
:D

I received the pack and so far I like it. It is big enough for me to carry all the stuff I take out on the long day hunts, but small enough to be out of the way for shooting. it is very comfortable to wear and appears to be well made. I like the pockets on the side where I can put my calls, range finder or anything I might need quickly with out having to take off my pack or twist around trying to reach them in a pocket behind me. There are a couple of things I think they could have done better; 1) the fabric is not super quiet, especially the material on the bottom of the pockets. It is suppose to be this super strong, yet light material but it is a little noisy. 2) the waist belt is huge. I am 6' 200lbs and I have it as tight as it will go, with just one layer of clothing on. This isn't a big deal (as long as I don't lose weight) as we get colder out I have plenty of adjustment for more layers.

Over all I like this pack better than other packs I have looked at. I will try it out more this summer and fall and I will also try and post some pics of it on me.

OK here is an update on this pack: I just returned it!

It was the noisiest pack I have ever had. Even just standing still and breathing it squeaked or something. When I was moving the clips would squeak with ever step. I tried putting mule skin to quiet them down, and turning the clips to put different pressure on them but to no avail. I emailed the company telling them the problem and also on the side pockets the fabric was too noisy, but did not get a reply from them. I am sooo disappointed, it was designed right but not put together with quiet in mind! I am not looking for another day pack that fits my needs and expectations. Time to dig out my 25 year old pack out until I find another one.

I've been using a pack from Oregon Pack works for about 6 weeks and absolutely love it. Extremely versatile combination style pack. If you're just looking for a day pack look at their "Orion" or "Rogue" combinations. So far it has produced no squeeks or sounds, easily the quietest pack I've used so far, and carries loads better than anything I've tried out so far.
