Close to 200lb buck 3/4 of a mile from the truck. It was a chore getting him out whole. So snow would have been nice.

Did you drag him whole or use a cart? Thats a pretty damn far ways to drag whole.

I didnt have a plan.
As soon as I got him out of the water and drug 30 yds I realized he was heavier than me( with guts). It wasn't going to happen me dragging this deer , that far^, through long grass.
Called a nearby buddy who had a cart.
Well, his cart is homemade...one wheel in the front, so all the weight is still on the handles. Better than dragging but still a chore on a gradual uphill, with ditches to cross in the dark.
Spice of life.
Nothing like an elk in the mountains.
But I'm getting old.
Spent the next day on my knees installing flooring.
Rather contend with a dead critter.
