9 miles upstream of the Columbia River mouth, Easter morning.

Very nice. I caught a trout that size last weekend. Wait. That's your thumb. Never mind. Spring fever indeed. I've been hitting the rivers at least once a week fly fishing for trout.

Waiting on word of compact meetings and such for a Columbia re opener. Don't want to catch too many before they have a chance to make it to Idaho!

2024 Spring Chinook recap; 7 day trip, 8 takedowns, 6 chinook landed. 8 to 9 rod hours per day.
This is the most demanding fishery, a lot like hunting. Trolling Shortbus flashers and brined cut plug herring in as little as 8 feet of water.
These fish fight so hard they smoke reels!

Spring Chinook is sure worth the effort! Not a better tasting fish.

Interesting. We fish them here from the jump, fresh water though- wonder if that makes a difference.

That sounds like what I'm used to for steelhead numbers...tough fishing but worth it when you get one on.
