1606084613673.jpegMy wife made homemade Chicken noodle soup and I made chowder. When we go fishing we freeze it in batches big enough for the four of us to have a family meal. If there is fish left over but not enough for a fry in the colder months I like to make chowder. It’s really easy and really good!
4 strips bacon, reserve 2 Tbl of the grease
2 tbl of butter
1/2 an onion
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 cup celery
1 lb potatoes
1 lb firm White fish (I used sauger today but bass, bluegill, crappie, etc will work)
1 cup heavy cream
1 can cream corn
4 cups water

in a Dutch oven
1. Fry bacon and set aside. Drain grease except enough to sauté onion, carrot, and potatoes.
2. Add bacon and 4 cups water. Simmer 10 minutes.
3. Add fish, heavy cream and corn simmer for 5 minutes to cook fish
