Another 3-4 inches overnight. We're past the labrador's backs in the woods. The ground blind is about 2/3 covered up. Big winds and bigger drifts.

And now the trees are gonna explode.

In a galaxy long ago, I use to ice fish on Lake Champlain at night for walleye and sauger. The temps could hit -25 to -35. The first couple times we heard these booms coming from heavy woods on shoreline. WTH was that! Middle of night, in ice shack with wood stove and bunks it got crazy how loud it was bouncing off mountains. Then a local laughing told us and BTW stay out of woods! It was bit unnerving in middle of nowhere.

I live in Shoshoni WY and we have had about 1 inch of snow so far this winter. Also we have not hit a negative temp of below 0. We normally have below - 20++. We do have ice on the local lake in the bays but not the main lake,

Wife wanted me to drive her to and from work today. that is a first. It was -28 on the way in. Air temp. Windchill was -52.

Just for giggles, I rolled down the window and stuck my bare hand out while driving about 30 mph. Lasted longer than I expected at around 11 seconds before I realized my foolishness. As it turns out, I didn't giggle.
