When we were at our cabin in Eastern OR on the weekend for three days of R&R we saw something that I thought I would never see.
Riding the 4-wheeler up an old mining road to pic huckleberries we passed an old shell of a building and I caught something out of the corner of my eye in it so pulled forward and stopped. Thinking it was a bear I drew my weapon just for giggles. Turns out it was a doe!
The flies were thick so we guessed she jumped in there to get into the shade and cool away from the flies. No camera!
Saturday the wife goes back up the same road and same thing, only a doe and a fawn?
I have never heard of deer doing that? Have seen range cattle holing up in old buildings, but deer?

Larry, I once flushed six whitetails from under a partially collapsed barn shelter..It was just an equipment shed attached to the abandoned stock barn which had partially rotted posts and the whole mix was grown up in tall weeds and broom sedge. We were working about a half dozen beagles for cottontails, and the deer were bedded down under there, with the nearest woods about 300 yards distant. Those beagles didn't know whether to crap or go blind; kinda got our adrenalin flowing too.
