Slow Saturday goose hunt

My son and I found a field on Friday afternoon that held about 300 geese. We set up the next morning but only saw about 15 to 20 flying. It was a bright morning and we only got two singles to decoy all morning. It was fun though.

It sounds like the birds are staging for the big move south. Hopefully the weather will push them down in the coming days.

Had a work buddy in NE MT killing pheasants this weekend, said the move was on. On top of ducks, he said there were piles of cranes, white-fronts and swans.

Looks like two good retreivers you have.

That's hard conditions to get geese to come down from up high, you did great! We don't get many of those big Canada geese in the south part of Texas, but they have them in north Texas.
