Fabric seems like it will be plenty water resistant for MT. It is a bit "crispy"?? Feeling which makes a bit of noise similar to my sitka timberlines when new. I think (and hope)this will lessen with use. It appears very tear resistant. Heavy constant wind is what I hope it can help with. Ordered XL as I will use it in late winter layered up and glad I did. It is a very athletic cut. Only way to tell will be to put it thru this years season but quality seems great.
