Lucky enough to draw a bear tag on POW for '27. I've made a lot of phone calls and have come up with a few solid plans. I am not looking for specifics just general input for those with experience.

I am considering these options:

Rental truck with access to kayak/canoe - cheapest option but also might be harder to avoid pressure or access shorelines etc.

Float Plane into a more remote area with pack rafts - more $ but would hopefully be minimal pressure - mobility is limited.

Access to a rental skiff - BIG $$$ but the boat would obviously be nice.

If you've done this hunt, what did your logistics look like and did you feel well equipped or "under gunned"

PM's are welcome and if anyone else drew the tag I have done a ton of research and wouldn't mind sharing.

Congrats on drawing the POW tag. All three options can work, but it really comes down to mobility and budget. The truck with a kayak or canoe is the cheapest and can produce bears, but you’ll likely deal with more hunting pressure and limited access unless you work hard to reach overlooked shorelines. The float plane with packrafts gets you into quieter country and away from people, but your range is limited once you’re there and weather can affect pickup. A rental skiff is the most expensive but gives you the best mobility to cover shoreline and adjust to bear activity, so most hunters feel best equipped with that setup.
