Join the CPW Sportsmen's Roundtable in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites hunters, anglers and other wildlife enthusiasts to participate at a regional Sportsmen's Roundtable in Colorado Springs, at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 18 at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

The meeting is part of the ongoing statewide "Sportsmen's Roundtable" process set up by CPW to assure that hunters, angler and everyone who cares about wildlife can provide input, concerns and discuss issues with leaders of the agency.

Southeast Region Manager Dan Prenzlow will provide an update on financial issues facing the agency, more information regarding the West Slope Mule Deer Strategy and discuss the agency-wide strategic planning process that is currently underway. Prenzlow also seeks feedback on the 2014 big game seasons, local fishing and other wildlife observations.

"It's really important that people come out and attend this meeting," Prenzlow said. "Public input plays a major role in making decisions regarding the management of the state's natural resources."

As part of the strategic planning process CPW is gathering ideas from people throughout Colorado that will help guide the future for parks and wildlife. An online survey is now available at http://cpw.state.co.us/StrategicPlan.

Participants at the Sportsmen's Roundtable will be asked to discuss ideas for the future of wildlife management and the agency's budget issues, including recent budget cuts and ideas for raising revenues.

The meeting will be attended by the southeast region representatives of the statewide roundtable group. CPW formed the statewide Sportsmen's Roundtable in 2012 which consists of 24 people from throughout Colorado who are elected and appointed delegates from each of the state's four wildlife management regions. The next Statewide Sportsmen's Roundtable meeting is scheduled for Feb. 28, in Denver. Information gathered at the regional meeting in Colorado Springs will be presented to the statewide group at that time.
