My buddy and I drew whitetail deer tags for SD Unit 15A. Anybody out there hunt this area before that would be willing to share some intel/tips?

They’re around. The second pic is taken from the spot i shot the buck from. Still hunt the wooded draws and you should find a whitetail.

We had a fun hunt. Most all the whitetails are on the private ground near the river bottoms and farm ground so you'll do best if you can get permission to hunt some private ground. We took one buck on a walk-in area and my friend took his buck on some private property we got permission to hunt on.

I used to hunt this unit hard, when I was stationed at Ellsworth. For whitetails, I’d take a week off to find a good one. Stats-wise, it’s a decent unit for public land, the problem is that it’s not all accessible.

I'm not looking for anything nice - a 3.5 (or big 2.5) year old buck would be fine. Appreciate the info though - good to know!

I got lucky and found these two at the final day.
